How fast is Africa warming – and which countries are heating up the most compared to their 1991–2020 climate?
This dashboard uses country-level monthly temperature anomalies (relative to 1991–2020) to track how much warmer African countries have become over time.
We combine monthly anomalies, absolute temperatures and global reference trends to show both the overall warming and the changing seasonal patterns of heat across the continent.
Data sources: ERA5-based reconstructions compiled by Our World in Data. Temperatures are expressed as anomalies relative to each country's 1991–2020 mean climate.
